Sports betting is legal in Massachusetts starting at 10am, January 31, 2023.

Starting at 10am on Tuesday, January 31, you will be able to bet on sports in Massachusetts, in casinos. In the weeks to come, legal online sports gambling should be up and running, most likely by March.

The state’s new law, signed by then Governor Charlie Baker, makes it legal for licensed gambling operators to offer sports betting in the state.

Anyone 21 or older will be able to bet on sports at one of the state’s three casinos:

MGM Springfield

Encore Boston Harbor

Plainridge Park Casino

Once online and mobile sports betting is live, wagers must be placed through a licensed facility, which means there won’t be any way around paying taxes on winnings or even avoiding taxes altogether.

If you’re thinking about placing a bet for the Super Bowl, which happens on Sunday, February 12, you can legally do that, at one of the above casinos in Massachusetts beginning January 31, 2023.
