Grocery Shopping During COVID-19
Grocery Store Occupancy – On March 25, 2020 the Commissioner of Public Health in Massachusetts issued an order to grocery stores to provide continuation of essential services while reducing exposure of shoppers and employees to COVID-19.
Grocery stores must limit occupancy to 40% of its maximum permitted occupancy level and that includes employees as well as customers.
Grocery stores have been advised to designate one-way aisles to maximize spacing between customers.
Grocery stores must continue to provide alternative hours, at least one hour every day in the early morning, for adults 60 years of age and older in order to limit potential exposure to COVID-19.
Customers are encouraged to use online delivery and/or curbside pickup before coming into the store.
